No Easy Way Out
By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
“Some things are worth fighting for
Some feelings never die
I’m not askin’ for another chance
I just wanna know why
There’s no easy way out
There’s no shortcut home
There’s no easy way out
Givin’ in can’t be wrong”
~Robert M Tepper
I’m not going to go through the plotline of the movie or the relevance of the song to it. It was initially written by a man going through a divorce and feeling challenged to fight rather than give in to suicidal feelings.
However, being expansive about it, many tap into the feeling that achieving something may involve hard work.
There’s no easy way out.
There is no shortcut to success.
Although the lyric, “Giving in can’t be wrong,” is the suicidal thought or the “giving up” thought, some feelings never die.
As an older man, it would be easy to surrender to feelings that coddle me.
“If you haven’t gotten there yet, maybe, it’s time to give up.”
But you live with the feelings, and you live with the thoughts.
