No BS Career Advice: August 14, 2024

I’ll be skipping the next two weeks of No BS Career Advice. We will be on vacation in Vermont visiting with our son. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary with him. He is giving us a gift of staying at the resort he works at. I’ll say more about it at the end of the month.
I didn’t watch much of the Olympics but the few events I saw included incredible moments. Two are from the US Men’s basketball team’s win over an excellent French team. A team of millionaires fought hard to win the gold medal. The joy on the faces of all of them, particularly Steph Curry and LeBron James at winning a gold medal, bowing their heads to have the medal slipped on, and listening to the national anthem reflected pride and joy and I don’t see on many peoples’ faces I work with. They worked together for weeks to achieve and a lifetime before that to earn an invitation to compete.
The second are the coaches standing by and watching with pride as the players were honored. They don’t receive medals. They receive the reward of a job well done.
