Great Players

No matter what the sport, there are special moments that occur.

Maybe it’s in the fourth quarter of a football game that has particular importance in the standings. There are two minutes left. Your team is down. Someone has to make a play.

Maybe it’s the bottom of the ninth-inning and your team is down a run. Someone needs to get on base to start a rally. Someone needs to get that runner home.

Great players make great plays.

Maestros. Conductors. Managers. Leaders. They all put players in a position where they can make those plays within their capabilities.

Not only that, they have a feel for the game that goes beyond the numbers. They may understand probabilities but they also understand the player as well.

If you never watched Leonard Bernstein conduct a symphony, he was a man who was immersed with the orchestra and the music. His heart is on his sleeve. He cares tremendously. Every gesture of his baton communicates something to the orchestra.

Great players make great plays.

They also have men and women who put them into the position where they can do that.
