These are hard times.

Millions of businesses are closed and if they are open they’ve needed to do it differently than they have before.

Millions have lost their jobs.

Listen to post on social media or watch the news and the focus is on the calamity of our times.

The message I see reiterated time and again is to stay in place. Don’t do anything. In the beginning, this made sense, particularly when we knew nothing about the virus and how to prevent it.

When I talked to workers or talk to business managers and sales leaders, many have been affected by the pandemic in so far as that they are focusing on accommodating it, rather than figuring out solutions that allow them to move ahead.

I want to be clear that I am not advocating for risky behavior in any way shape or form. I have been someone who wears a mask from the very beginning and who rarely leaves his house because, as an at-risk individual, it is stupid to do so.

However, in my work, I have been figuring out different ways to do the work that I might have previously.
